Chronicle Crush ("the App") is a match-3 puzzle game designed to teach U.S. history and civics. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information directly.

The App does not require account creation, login, or any form of registration. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personally identifiable information.

1b. Information Collected by Third-Party Advertising Services

After the initial 30-day ad-free period, the App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. When ads are active, Google AdMob may automatically collect:

• Device identifiers — Advertising ID (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android)
• Device information — device model, operating system version, screen size
• IP address — used for approximate location (country/region level) and fraud prevention
• Ad interaction data — impressions viewed, ads clicked, ad engagement metrics
• App usage data — session duration and frequency (aggregated)

This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores game progress data locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This includes:

• Level completion status and star ratings
• Coin balance and booster inventory
• Achievement progress
• Daily reward streak
• Settings preferences (sound, haptics, ad-free grace period timestamp)
• Profile selection (Kids or Adults mode)

This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to any server controlled by us.

3. Advertising

3a. Ad-Free Grace Period

For the first 30 days after you install the App, no advertisements are displayed. After this period, the following ad formats may appear:

3b. Personalized vs. Non-Personalized Ads

By default, the App requests non-personalized ads. If you have opted into ad personalization on your device (via your operating system settings), Google may serve personalized ads based on your interests.

You can control ad personalization through:

• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
• Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization

The App uses the following advertising SDK:

• Google AdMob (react-native-google-mobile-ads) — Google Ads Privacy

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

The App offers a "Kids" mode designed for younger audiences. We take children's privacy seriously:

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
• When the App detects a user in Kids mode, ads are tagged for child-directed treatment under COPPA, which means:
  • No personalized or interest-based advertising
  • No remarketing
  • Limited data collection by ad networks
• Rewarded ads (opt-in video ads) are still available in Kids mode, but they follow Google's child-safe ad content policies.

The App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google's Families Policy.

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

• No personal information (name, email, phone, etc.)
• No precise location data (GPS)
• No contacts, photos, or camera/microphone access
• No crash reports or diagnostic data
• No cookies or web tracking
• No server-side accounts or cloud storage of your data

6. Internet & Network

The App's core gameplay works fully offline. An internet connection is only used for:

• Loading and displaying advertisements (after the 30-day grace period)
• Over-the-air updates via Expo Updates (if available)

No personal game data is transmitted over the internet.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Since all game data is stored locally on your device:

• You can reset all data using the "Reset Profile & Progress" button in Settings.
• You can delete all data by uninstalling the App or clearing the App's storage through your device settings.
• For data collected by Google AdMob, please refer to Google's data management tools.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

• Right to know what data is collected (described in this policy)
• Right to opt out of personalized advertising (via device settings)
• Right to delete your data (by resetting or uninstalling the App)
• Right to limit ad tracking (via IDFA/GAID controls on your device)

For California residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not "sell" or "share" personal information. Google AdMob's data collection for ad serving may constitute a "sale" under certain broad definitions; you can opt out via "Limit Ad Tracking" on your device.

For EU/EEA residents (GDPR): Google AdMob acts as an independent data controller for data it collects. The App requests non-personalized ads by default to minimize data processing.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice or App Store update notes.
